About Camperdown & the Great Ocean Road

Originally part of Purrumbete Station, historic Camperdown features many fine buildings dating back to the 1860's, with the superb 1897 Gothic clocktower as its landmark. The heritage-listed avenue of elms is considered one of the world's finest. Picnic in the Guilfoyle-designed Botanical Gardens, or tour the Dry Stone Walls Trail. Fish, golf or just soak up the atmosphere of one of Victoria's loveliest historic towns. The 360° view from the top of Mt. Leura is a must.

The Great Ocean Road takes visitors on one of Australia’s greatest and most inspiring coastal drives. From Torquay near Geelong, to Nelson almost 300 kilometres to the west, the road snakes past cliffs, scenic lookouts, waterfalls, rainforests & sunken ships. One of the most visited stretches is the Port Campbell National Park, home to native bushland & fauna. Buffeted by wild seas & fierce winds, the coastline has been sculpted over millions of years to form a series of striking natural features such as the Twelve Apostles & London Bridge.

Set on 2.5 hectares of garden and farmland, Timboon House was built as a coaching inn in 1855 and continues the tradition by providing accommodation to guests wishing to explore the area around Camperdown and the Great Ocean Road.

The property formed part of the original Camperdown township known then as Lake Timboon Settlement. It is regarded as the earliest documented bluestone building in the Western Region of Victoria and is listed by Heritage Victoria as being "historically, architecturally and archaeologically important".

The two storey Colonial Georgian structure retains most of its original features. There are also heritage listed trees, stables and archaeologically preserved land. A perfect setting for that weekend getaway or overnight stay. Located just 2 kilometres from Camperdown, Timboon House is your ideal base for exploring this rich and diverse region of Australia, or simply relaxing and enjoying the ambience of this beautifully appointed bed and breakfast.

Three large bedrooms with private bathrooms and antique furniture are available along with a guest lounge room and open fire where afternoon tea is served upon your arrival. Weather permitting, you can take afternoon tea on the verandah. A full breakfast is served in the gracious dining room. We also provide complimentary port and supper.

The Stables, which are also heritage listed, provide self-contained accommodation for up to four people. There is one double bedroom and another with two single beds.
