About Mt Macedon & the Spa Country

You'll really enjoy this region with its promise of sumptuous food & wine, amazing geological features & crisp, fresh mountain air!

The bluestone era of colonial architecture has given Kyneton its unique look. Wander along Piper Street's cobbled paths past the many old buildings & you begin to get a feel for those heady gold rush days. Around Hepburn Springs & Daylesford you'll find the largest concentration of natural mineral springs in Australia. The health giving mineral waters that percolate up through the earth are an elixir for tired & aching bodies.

Not far away at Mt Macedon you'll come across cool mountain air, fabulous exotic gardens & grand homes built at a time when craftsmanship really meant something! A short drive to the mountain top opens vistas across to Port Phillip Bay. An added bonus are the wonderful varietal wines to be found at the Macedon wineries, and this tour would not be complete with visiting the region's most recognised landmark ~ Hanging Rock.

It's time to escape to award-winning Tilwinda at Kyneton in the Macedon Ranges where you can choose your accommodation from two beautiful queen rooms in the Homestead, or hide away in the picture perfect Woolshed Barn.

Set on six acres, Tilwinda is a former farming property. Sweeping lawns, country views and relaxing gardens can be enjoyed year round. The property is circa 1870 but bought back to life with all modern amenities.

Located on the edge of Kyneton, Tilwinda is close to shops, restaurants and attractions. The Homestead offers luxury traditional B&B style accommodation in two queen rooms with garden views, delicious breakfasts served in the Dining Room and an open fire in the lounge. The Woolshed Barn, built by the early pioneers, is a delightfully cosy self-contained retreat perfect for a romantic getaway.

The relaxing garden has large shade trees and a decorative fountain and you can explore the many varieties of fruit trees in the orchard and picnic by the ornamental dams. Outdoor pets welcome by prior arrangement.

The Fountainview Room in the Homestead has views to the front garden and a stunning full ensuite with inviting bath (just relax and count the stars).

The second Homestead room is the Rosebank Suite with its luxury ensuite. From your own sitting room you can step out into the peaceful Japanese-style garden.

For a unique experience, escape from the world in the Woolshed Barn. The Barn, with its rustic bluestone walls, offers studio style accommodation including a sofa bed. Picture windows offer vistas of the countryside. The wood fired heater will keep you warm and cosy. Breakfast comes in a basket brimming with provisions, so you can cook up a storm in the farmhouse style kitchenette.

Historic Kyneton and the Macedon Ranges are close to Melbourne and the choice of accommodation at Tilwinda makes it an easy decision as to where you'll take your next short break!
