Gold was discovered in 1852, consequently the building is a significant part of Beechworth's history. Tasteful renovations were carried out in the late 1980's and care was taken to retain many of the building's original features.
Kinross comprises four spacious bedrooms. There is a king-size/twin room and three queen-size rooms, with high ceilings, open fires and ensuites. Two rooms have reverse cycle airconditioning. Each room is appointed with period furniture appropriate to the age and style of the house. In addition, all rooms have comfortable chairs or sofas, television, DVD player, tea and coffee facilities, electric blankets, hair dryers, iron and ironing board and ceiling fans. In the cooler months enjoy a glass of wine by the fire in the privacy of your own room.
There is a spacious guest dining room where you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast from the extensive menu. A separate lounge room is available, complete with TV/DVD and music, and where guests may relax by the fire or browse through the reading material provided. Kinross is set in an attractive cottage garden and guests may take tea along the front verandah or in the courtyard to the rear. There is off street parking at the front of the house.
Kinross is in the centre of Beechworth, within an easy stroll to excellent restaurants, specialty shops, and the historic precinct. Beechworth is one of the best preserved towns in Victoria from the 1850s gold rush, and your accommodation at Kinross certainly mirrors the feeling of solidity and style which typified those exciting times.
