THE PURPOSE OF INN.HOUSE
Inn House Bed and Breakfast Australia Inc. was incorporated in March, 1989 with a seeding grant from the Victorian Tourism Commission. Through the assurance of quality offered by the Inn House accreditation system, the group sets a high standard which has become a benchmark in the industry. Inn House provides a Victoria-wide network of professionally-run, independent boutique accommodation recognised for quality in presentation and excellence of service.
Each member establishment is different, with its own distinctive style and character. The membership is committed to offering a quality experience to guests and working together co-operatively in marketing and promoting the Inn House style. An executive committee is elected annually by the members. All members are expected to contribute to the operation and development of Inn House. Three sub-committees specialise in Membership, Marketing & Internet.

The benefit of referrals and recommendations – all members are expected to promote INN.HOUSE properties at every opportunity.

Inclusion on the Inn House brochure, printed as a PDF file on the Inn House web site and distributed to Visitor Information centres throughout Victoria and Interstate
A guest Privilege Card membership which provides a data base for quarterly ‘special’ offers to these past guests
JOINING INN.HOUSE
All current members are listed on the website. Feel free to contact any of the B & Bs listed – all members participate in the development of the group and will be happy to talk with you. You can also contact the Inn House coordinator or a member of the Inn House Executive so that arrangements can be made to visit your property with a view to being accredited by the INN.HOUSE Accreditation Team.
MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA
To be eligible for membership of Inn House Bed and Breakfast properties must meet the following criteria:
Establishment size – The prime objective is to promote small establishments which can provide the required level of personal service to guests.
Resident hosts – The basis of the group is assured quality hospitality at the personal level. All properties must be hosted.
Breakfast to be provided – A served breakfast, or provisions for breakfast, must be provided by the host and included in the tariff.
Self-contained apartments and cottages– A member of INN.HOUSE may also provide self-contained accommodation as part of their membership, and be listed under that category on the website.
Meet In House quality standards:
- Exceed guests’ expectations.
- Meet and farewell guests and make them feel welcome; use guests’ names; establish rapport; show guests to their accommodation.
- Be sensitive to guests’ expectations, including their wishes for privacy and space requirements.
- Display knowledge of local industries, economy, flora/fauna and provide information about local attractions.
- Facilitate bookings for local attractions, restaurants and on-booking accommodation – preferably INN.HOUSE.
- Offer daily room service.
- Ensure tea and coffee are always available.
- Ensure fresh drinking water is available in bedrooms.
- Provide towels, hand towels, bath mat, face washer and spare towels.
Project a professional image:
- Deal with booking enquiries within twenty-four hours.
- Display a pleasant telephone manner.
- Provide credit card facilities.
- Keep animals and children away from guests.
- Dress according to guest and situation, especially when cooking and serving food.
- Be honest and accurate in advertising.
- Ensure the host or nominee is available twenty-four hours.
- Have facilities for sending and receiving e-mail.
- Maintain a high level of personal hygiene.
- Maintain a spotlessly clean property.
- Provide fresh, high quality and well presented food.
- Provide quality tableware and napery.
- Keep a well-maintained garden – and pool-spa where provided.
- Provide clear, legible signage.
- Provide adequate and sufficient lighting both indoors and outdoors.
- Develop and publicise a clear smoking policy.
- Provide appropriate toiletries .
THE MEMBERSHIP ASSESSMENT PROCESS
If you are confident that all the criteria have been met, please complete and submit your Membership Application to the INN.HOUSE committee, who will arrange a mutually satisfactory time for an inspection of your property. The application can be downloaded at ……………………………..
The inspection will result in a report to the committee at its next meeting. You will then be advised of the outcome of your application.

FEE STRUCTURE
The Inn.House year commences 1st July. Renewing member accounts are issued in June and the final payment date is 30th September
* For the 2011/2012 financial year we have waved the joining fee ($100) and the website establishment fee ($100) for new members. The cost of joining Inn House for this time is the same as the existing member renewal fee, $195.

The information that you complete on member booking or enquiry forms will only be disclosed to the property owner, for the sole purpose of completing your transaction with them. When you visit this website we collect some information for internal statistical and maintenance purposes. We do not disclose any information to third parties for marketing or general contact purposes. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any third parties. By disclosing your personal information to us, using this site, or over the telephone, you consent to the collection, storage and processing of your personal information in the manner set out in this privacy agreement.
