About Phillip Island

Accessible by passenger ferry from Crib Point or by bridge from San Remo, Phillip Island is a popular holiday destination for Melburnians. The rugged southern coastline of the Island faces Bass Strait & offers some of the best surf beaches in Victoria, while the protected northern beaches nestle into Westernport Bay & provide excellent areas for swimming, sailing, boating & fishing. Cowes, on the bay side, is the largest township on the Island & offers a lively range of restaurants, shops and family attractions. Often described as Victoria’s natural attraction, Phillip Island has an abundance of wildlife including the ever-popular colony of Little Penguins, koala & fur seal colonies.

In a quiet street just 200m from the beach at Cowes on Phillip Island, your hosts, Serena and Eric, have created at Holmwood Guesthouse a fine example of bed and breakfast accommodation using youth, foresight and energy!

Originally starting life in 1934 as a private residence, Holmwood Guesthouse has been transformed into a stylish retreat, providing a selection of quality accommodation. For the traditionalists there are three rooms in the guesthouse, all with ensuite:

• Toile Room, indicative of a French country house.

Jane Austen Room, furnished in a traditional English country house style.

• Nelson Room, with its charcoal and ivory theme, and black campaign style wrought iron bed.

The guest lounge, with open fireplace, comfortable sofas, daily papers, books, lifestyle magazines and games, is hard to resist to retire to after a hearty cooked breakfast.

Those who prefer more privacy, would find it difficult to choose between the two cottages. Though they both feature slow combustion fires, TV, VCR, HiFi, aircon, as well as kitchenette and dining, Oriental Cottage has a spa bath, whereas Coastal Cottage has a lovely deep bath. Their individually landscaped courtyard gardens continue the theme, and provide a perfect oasis to relax in.

Finally, although the guesthouse is mainly suited to adult couples, families can enjoy the same quality in the two bedroom townhouse, located just 50m from the beach and around the corner from Holmwood. On two levels, it has lounge, dining, fully equipped kitchen, courtyard, two bedrooms and bathroom (spa bath, shower, toilet, washing machine/dryer).

What choices you have at Holmwood Guesthouse to secure quality holiday accommodation in the most colourful part of Phillip Island!
