About the region
The Ovens & Kiewa Valleys are the gateways to the Alpine National Park. The Ovens Valley leads to Mt Hotham whilst the Kiewa Valley leads to Falls Creek. Both are noted for their fertile river flats which produce a wide variety of gourmet foods & cool climate wines.The Great Alpine Road traverses the length of the Ovens Valley, passing through Myrtleford, Porepunkah, Bright & Harrietville before climbing over the alps through Mt Hotham & Dinner Plain towards Omeo & the Gippsland Lakes.
The Kiewa valley is the gateway to the ski fields at Falls Creek, with the township of Mount Beauty nestling at the foot of Mt Bogong, Victoria's highest mountain.
